Kids Jello Cups

In efforts to save money on our kids' lunches;
I'm making and stocking up again on the Jello Cups.

I mix the jello according to the package and then
put the mixture into these 3 1/4 oz. Portion Cups
[I get the portion cups at a local store called Cash & Carry but Costco sells the 2 oz. size].
Out of 1 package I can get 8 cups worth.
Store bought= $2.00 + tax (for 8/Walmart pricing)
Homemade=    $0.68 + tax (for 8/ Walmart pricing)

It will add up too quick so this is a great savings.
Plus you have the option to mix flavors if you're feeling wild and crazy!
I LOVE saving money!!!

Homemade Outdoor Window Cleaner

My husband has commented many times he would love to see out of our windows.
Me too-it drives me nuts!
They are so filled with grime and dirt. Its been awhile since I attempted to clean them.
So I found a solution to this problem: make some Window cleaner!

I have posted the recipe for you below(I got it from here):
1/2 bottle (3.5 oz) of Jet Dry
4 Tbl. Alcohol
1/4 cup Ammonia
1/4 cup powdered Dishwasher Soap (I used Walmart brand)
2 gallons HOT water

Dissolve the Dishwasher Soap into the Hot water.
Then add the rest of the ingredients into a plastic bucket or tub.
TO CLEAN:
Step 1: Spray the window with the hose
Step 2: Wipe the window down with a microfiber 'mop" in the cleaning solution
Step 3: Spray with the hose again.
Air dry.

**TIP: I found that I had better results when I used a squeegee
to remove the excess water instead of just letting it air dry.

Heather's {Bath Salt}

Bath's are so soothing.
Between the cold weather and my latest hardcore workouts,
I have needed some extra soothing!
I found this recipe but then added my own touch. . .

2 cups powdered milk
1 (4 oz.) soap bar "Kiss My Face" Olive and Lavendar-grated
Directions: Mix all the ingredients together then
add 1/3 to 1/2 cup to bath water.
[This batch will fit into a 1 gallon ice cream bucket]

Tips:

Foiled {NAME} Art

My friend Tristin just had their only girl so I made something
special & personalized to add to the baby room.
Start with a piece of scrap wood.
Draw their name(I used vinyl to make it easier)with pencil.
Trace over the penciled name with dimensional paint.
Let dry overnight.
Cover the entire board with a thick coat of Mod Podge.
Lay a piece of aluminum foil over the image and press around the "paint" using a q-tip(or your finger).
This helps to not tear the foil.
Keep going until its all done.

Fold the extra foil around the sides of the scrap wood to finish it off.

Guess the Gift

Our daughter is away for a little bit and we just wanted to send her some Love from home.
I used her name as inspiration.
There is a gift that equals each letter of her name.
A= "apple" cider and "abuelita" hot chocolate.
[John 7:37]

U= "U" get to decode a message. Go here to print the key.
[Bible Dictionary: Urim & Thummim]

D= "dough"
[! Nephi 17: 12]

R= "read" letters from each member of family and a book.
[John 15:11]

A= "almond" caramels
[Psalms 119:103]

I added scrapbook paper to the inside of the box to make it fun.
I wrapped each one with white paper, put a letter to represent her name and a scripture. She has to look up the scripture, guess what it is then she can open it. I got that idea here.

Love Note 2- Candy Message

I love the fun words on these hearts.

I used them to create a simple endearing saying.

[I didn't glue them on so the kiddos could eat them.]

Love Note 1- Magazines

This year I'm taking the simple route with giving Valentines to our kids.
Each day, until Valentine's Day, I will sprinkle a little "love" with a message on a 3x5 card.
I just got a pack of 3x5 cards at the dollar store to use for all the "love notes".
For today I recycled some magazines and chocolate hearts to create a love note.

EveryDay Inspiration

To keep motivated for exercising/healthy eating I started taping
(eventually I will do something cuter) up quotes(on my mirror in our bathroom)
I would want to see everyday to help me be better.
I found a lot of these on pinterest and just typed them up.
I rephrased this question a bit. You can go here for the printable.

Pretty Bottle

my Listerine bottle needed a "pretty" update. . .
I went from this. . .
to this. . . .

[I found this bottle at a restaurant store for oil/vinegar.
It doesn't pour out-you have to shake it into your mouth
but I think I use less and it looks so "magazine ready"]

Fabric {Ogee} Ornament

I thought this ornament was so beautiful. Go here for a great tutorial.
I had some leftover Christmas fabric to use.
Cut some felt (I used felt and corduroy) 5"x 5" square. Glue them together with "HeatnBond".
I made my own template so it would go faster when cutting. I used a very sharp box knife.
You could stitch them together at the points but I used "Liquid Stitch".

Present {Name} Gift Tags

I love using monogrammed letters.
I thought it would be fun to do this for the kids' presents.
Then I thought it would look cute to add this to the gifts we gave the neighbors, our friends and family.

I just printed it up in a square in Microsoft Publisher.
Just repeat the name. Cut and Paste.
Used a letter template to cut out the letter. Use a hole punch for the hole.
They are ready to be attached to the presents!

{Christmas Countdown} #1

I'm still one of the Activity Day Leaders in our ward.
I had some extra wood to make these Christmas Countdowns.
I spray painted them red, drilled holes for the fabric ribbon and cut little squares(2"x2") for the chalkboard to write the numbers counting down. I used Martha Stewart's recipe(1 cup flat paint + 2 TBL. of unsanded tile grout). The Behr "sample" containers make a great amount, its flat sheen & you can add the grout to it.
For the chalk: I drilled a bigger hole in these balls for the chalk to sit in. We just hot glued them on.
They just had to add vinyl, ribbon and glue things on. It was a great activity!

Christmas {2012} Gifts for Teachers

Again this year, teachers were given love with homemade gifts.
They will get Homeopathic Packs (one with rice(leftover fabric), the other with flaxseed(sock was walmart clearance)-which stay warmer longer), a couple of magnets and some hot chocolate with cookies.
I carved this magnet from MDF molding(its a softer wood)
I use my Dremel tool. . .
with this tip.
